Tecnica: Left Hand Muting (nel funk e non solo.)!!

Un buon "ingrediente" per avere un suono con il tiro ritmico giusto (non solo funk), a parte tutta la strumentazione che volete, è quello di suonare (con la destra)  su più corde anche quando ne dovete produrre  UNA sola reale-- le  altre vanno quindi mutate; qualcuno chiama questa tecnica  scraping, altri scratching... La cosa che conta è che così avete DUE SUONI : quello percussivo (delle note mutate) e quello della nota libera.
Questo implica  un attento uso del muting con la mano sinista che avviene principalmente in due modi:

1) Indice che fa da sordina mentre anulare o mignolo suonano i riff (vedi foto seguente)


2) Indice che suona  e fa da sordina (le prime 3 o 4 corde)  ma con l' aiuto del pollice (fuori dal manico e che muta la sesta e quinta corda.(fig.2)

Nel video in allegato si può chiaramente vedere come su un riff dove c'è un bounce continuo tra bassi ed alti la mano sinistra è sottoposta ad un lavoro non indifferente.

This implies careful use of muting with the left hand  that occurs mainly in two ways:

1) Index which is the muted ring or little finger while playing the riff (see photo below)

2) Index that sounds and acts as muted (the first 3 or 4 strings) but with the 'help of the thumb (out of the handle and that changes the sixth and fifth string. (Fig.2)

In the above attached video you can clearly see how this concept can be applied; look at the continuous bounce between lower and higher string and how left hand must take care about that in order to obtain a clear and groovy rhythm..
